Delta Kappa Epsilon
Psi Chapter – The University of Alabama
The University of Alabama’s Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon was chartered on June 20, 1847 as the seventh chapter nationally and the first at the Capstone. Faculty opposition to the organization was severe, and its persistence eventually led to the fraternity’s inactivity between 1856 and 1885. Since its reestablishment as an active chapter, the DKEs have consistently been regarded as one of, if not the, premier fraternities on campus. The fact that the Psi Chapter has been awarded the Lion Trophy as the top DKE chapter in the country numerous times is a testament to this fact. In the 160 years since its creation in Tuscaloosa, the Psi chapter has produced university leaders including SGA Presidents, Honor Society Presidents, IFC Presidents, and countless other men who have served to foster general University-wide welfare and improvement. The chapter has also been a pivotal part of the lives of so many civic and business leaders. Overall, the Psi Chapter continues to mold young men into the leaders needed to shape the outcome of the future!
